Robert Doisneau, French photographer, said: “One of the greatest joys of my career has been to see and speak to people I don’t know. Very often these simple people are the sweetest souls and generate an atmosphere of poetry all by themselves,”
Edyta Michalska, born in 1979 in Poland, now living in London is a student at The CASS School of Art doing her BA in Photography.
She is currently working on a project about searching for photographic evidence of belief, happiness and self. It is influenced by street photography, especially photographers approaching anonymous people in order to interfere with them. It’s a journey – geographical as well as metaphorical through images of people taken in Peru where she was working as a volunteer in local education community. These pictures were taken as a part of a school exercise, where children were given single use film cameras with a task of capturing the world they see and observe from a different angle, as well as illustrate the search and triggering relationship between the photographer and a person being photographed. Through their own pictures, they tell their own, other (ness) story.
